2019 BMW X5 vs 2019 Audi Q7

Proudly Serving Ramsey, NJ

If you are searching for a vehicle that beautifully balances luxury and performance in a stylish package, narrowing down the options to a midsize luxury SUV is a natural move. The 2019 BMW X5 and the 2019 Audi Q7 are understandably at the top of your list of options. The X5 has been in the BMW lineup since the 2000 model year and the 2019 model year ushers in significant changes with the introduction of the fourth generation. The Audi Q7 has been an option since the 2007 model year. The 2019 model is included in the second generation, which started in 2016. Only minor updates have been made to the Q7 for 2019.

Interior Features

These two SUVs each have a third row of passenger seating and can accommodate seven passengers. However, because the BMW model is starting a new generation with a bold update, it carries a more modern look with plenty of high-tech features. The interior of the X5 has an updated gear shifter with a new knob for the drive-mode selector, and the standard sunroof has been enlarged substantially. It also comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a wireless hotspot, a navigation system, lane keeping assistance, traffic jam assistance and more. The Audi’s interior features refined materials and sophistication, but it retains the same look as last year’s interior. It comes with a Virtual Cockpit, which is a digital instrumentation panel. It also has Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and remote control for the infotainment feature.

Exterior Style and Features

When you take a closer look at the exterior style and features of the 2019 BMW X5 versus the Q7 from Audi, you may notice that the Audi has a sleek, understated look that features a modern, edgy look. However, you may find it difficult to find the significant differentiation between the Q7 and the other SUVs that this automaker produces. The BMW X5 retains a similar look to the 2018 model year so that it is recognizable in the same line. However, it comes with new contouring along the side panels, reshaped LED tail lights and a new design for the fascia that now features updated air intake vents. If you are looking for a midsize luxury SUV that has individualized style, the X5 for 2019 is a preferred option.

Performance

You may think that a larger SUV that has seating for seven adults would have a lumbering, sluggish feel behind the wheel, but both of these SUVs prove that assumption wrong. The 2019 Q7 from Audi is equipped with an inline four-cylinder, a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that offers 252 horsepower. You could also upgrade to the improved V6, 3.0-liter engine with 333 horsepower. While this is respectable performance, the X5 for 2019 provides you with faster acceleration with its base engine. The base engine is an inline six-cylinder, a turbocharged three-liter engine with 335 horsepower. There is also a 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine that offers 456 horsepower. Both vehicles are well-designed from a suspension standpoint, providing you with an exceptionally smooth ride.

While you cannot go wrong when buying either of these luxury SUVs, the X5 for 2019 is a vehicle that is worth taking a closer look at. Because it has been completely redesigned throughout the interior and exterior, you will need to see it in person to appreciate all of the updates.
