Tire rotations should be done every 6,000 to 8,000 miles or at least once every six months depending on your driving habits. The benefit is that it helps your tires last longer as rotation evenly spreads the wear on the tires differently, so they last longer. Not having your tires rotated can mean the tread wears down below the acceptable threshold, and can mean that you'll have issues with stopping power and control on the road in any number of conditions, making it unsafe to drive with little traction or support.
